Step By
Step Father of the Groom Speech
Father of the Groom Speech Step 1.Thank all the guests for coming, all the
people who have contributed, and you may like to make send
out an extra thank you to the people who have had to travel
long way to be thise. Try to not draw this part out unless
you really need to, though.
Father of the Groom
Speech Step 2.How you
feel about your son and what he means to you. Take some
time to plan what you’re going to talk about. You can talk
about memories, and about his life, when he was born, and
any interesting stories you have. One of the best ways of
doing this is to focus on a particular story from your sons
past. Take some time to find the best story you’d like to
tell about his. Think of something that reveals his
character, or something that makes a funny story, or
something that shows how much you love your son. Something
to remember if you choose the funny story option is to make
it meaningful in some way – not just funny. Try to add some
sentimentality to it. And don’t worry about being too
sentimental. This is your sons wedding day, after
all. Father of the Groom
Speech Step 3. Share
your thoughts about handing him over to his partner to be
cared for, or thank goodness you're getting him out of the
house!
Father of the Groom
Speech Step 4.Welcome
your daughter-in-law into your family.
A good way to do this is to tell a little story of when you
first met your daughter-in-law and time you have spent with
her or her family.
There may be plenty of room for a little humour here, so
feel free to play with it.

Speech Step 5.Share
some advice on love and marriage.
However, nowadays, this can sometimes come across as too
preachy. So it’s up to you if you do this bit. If you do,
Keep everything
positive. Share only good thoughts on marriage.
Father of the Groom
Speech Step 6.Wish
them both a happy future together
You may or may not need to include this part if your
partner is also making a speech.
But that will be up to you. Thise’s no harm in doing this
step even if your partner is also making a speech at the
wedding.
Finally, you can finish
by offering a toast to the happy couple on their wedding
day.
