Your
wedding lingerie is probably the most carefully chosen
underwear of your life. It’s the one day you want to feel
uniquely amazing from top to bottom, inside and out. And
those wedding undergarments can either keep you happy and
cool or make you miserable during those magical hours. Here
are five important suggestions for buying the perfect
undies:
Don’t
buy your undergarments until you’ve chosen your
gown.
Think hard before you buy that lacy bridal bra studded
with Swarovski crystals. Lace or patterned undergarments
may show through a sleek gown design and soft fabrics. You
might require a body smoother (or “slimmer”) that fits you
from just under the bust through the leg to eliminate lines
under the dress. The primary purpose of wedding
undergarments is to make your dress fit fabulously, so your
dress style and fabric will heavily influence your
underwear choices.
Consider
all your options and get a professional fitting.
Visit lingerie stores and the lingerie department in
department stores to see all the possibilities. The bridal
salon where you purchased your gown is also a good
resource. Did you know eight out of ten women wear the
wrong bra size? These places should have knowledgeable
people on staff to advise you and guide you toward bra and
panty paradise.
Choose
comfort over style.
This doesn’t mean you have to give up hot, sexy lingerie
on your wedding day. You just have to find the right style
of undergarments that will keep you feeling comfortably
cool during the wedding and reception and sizzling hot for
your wedding night. If you have your heart set on something
sexy that just isn’t going to stay comfortable for 5 hours
of ceremony and reception time, remember you can always
change into some heart-stopping lingerie for those
late-night festivities later.
Purchase
your bridal shoes before your hosiery.
Are you wearing pumps, slingbacks or sandals? You may
prefer thigh-highs or pantyhose with or without seams, but
look for sandal foot or invisible toe and heel hosiery if
you’re wearing slingbacks or sandals. You do want to start
your marriage off on the right foot, don’t you?
Bring
all your wedding undergarments and your bridal shoes to the
first fitting.
If anything needs to be changed, now’s the time to find
out. Wearing the shoes you’ve chosen will help get the hem
of your dress precisely right, so you don’t trip as you
walk down the aisle and inadvertently show everyone your
lovely bridal lingerie!
